the moment's finally come. cass is finally going to go on this exploration. there's plenty of things that can happen. finding a rare pokemon. getting some fossils. it's a nice distraction from rory. she hasn't seen him since leaving, but she knows he's around somewhere. she just hopes that her good luck continues and that he's gone from her life from now on.
she's there first. cass stops by the maw of the cave, giving a little wave to the ranger. tour guides. she's the leader of their little group, whoever was in it.
cass just hopes that all the members are polite and considerate. she didn't need another fuck boy on hers. perhaps even juls would join her. he said he should be there. she shrugs. whatever works. now she just needs to wait for everyone else to show up.
rory still hasn't made up his mind yet. he's conflicted. should he apologize to cass? or should she? he wasn't sure. he joined this exploration to take his mind off of things. it was a nice distraction. he might even get some nice pokemon from inside the cave. the last thing he wanted to think about was her.
just his luck. his eyes caught a look at two people standing in front of the cave. one being the tour guide and the other a familiar face. great. what were the chances. he sighed and slid his hands into his pockets. he wore a simple shirt and pants. the heat was just killing him.
"hello," he said to the two. he paid no attention to cass for now. he waved at the ranger and smiled. he stood tall beside cass as he eyed the cave. he finally turned to cass with a smile. "cute outfit," he said. he just can't turn off the smooth talking side of him.
The party is starting. Leah's not quite sure why she's joining the exploration and is also quite annoyed because she knows that the majority of people here will be willy nilly travelers looking for bullshit adventure. She'll practically kill one on sight if she finds one. Unsurprisingly there's an optimistic, annoying tour guide that talks about the exploration. Leah wants to roll her eyes.
She walks a bit forward, dressed pristinely even for this little event. She's a fashion designer and she had no excuse to not be at her best. She has her usual fingerless gloves on and tight capri pants, along with her strange but fiery hair done half up and half down. Her stride is as always purposeful and decisive and there is no hesitance in her mind what so ever. She has a notebook in one hand, a pen tucked into the palm. She's here to observe beautiful things and destroy the ugly ones.
Which reminds her- isn't that disgusting blob of brown hair familiar?
She walks closer and looks at the girl, a sudden mocking smile lighting up her face. Ahh, those were the days.
"Well if it isn't hair-don't?" She asked, her tone already taking its usual haughty nature. She eyes the male from head to toe, giving him an adequate amount of time and a smirk before turning her sharp eyes back onto Cassandra. "Fancy meeting you here. I always knew you loved dark and closed spaces." Her eyebrows went straight up and her smile widened, implying the unsaid portion of Cassandra being a whore--

Nat wouldn't believe that she, of all people, was running late. She stuffed her bag with any equipment she thought she might need for the exploration, tugging on a comfortable pair of jeggings and an airy blouse. She mentally cursed herself. It was unlike her usual work ethic, to be on time for things and whatnot.
She made her way from the Pokemon Center in Petalburg and rushed out towards the cave designated for exploring. She gripped her bag strap tightly, peering in and noticing the ranger there with a small group of people. "Sorry!" she called out. The tallest of the lot caught her attention first. Natalie's eyes lit up with the familiar face. "Liam!" She only knew him as Liam, after all. She noted Cassandra next, about to open her mouth to say something before it hit her. SHe probably shouldn't act like she was acquainted, right? Being in Magma was supposed to be a quiet, hush hush thing.
The redhead was the only unfamiliar face. She tried not to tense at the thought of dark, enclosed spaces. The thought hadn't crossed her mind until now... but there was no turning back. It was probably a good chance for her to get over her fears. "So, you've met everyone, already?" she asked Rory, looking at him expectantly as though expecting him to introduce everyone to her.

she doesn't know who's at fault in the entire thing. her? him? she did leave. but he moved on so quickly, like she wasn't important. maybe she wasn't, in his eyes. well, she's not apologizing. that's for sure.
she just needs a distraction. something to take her mind of the current issues. so when rory walks in again it feels as if even the gods are going against her. she frowns and crosses her arms, turning back to face the ranger. they stand in an tense silence for a moment. cass sure as hell isn't going to attempt to make conversation.
"thanks." she says. he isn't going to charm her again. she's just content with the lingering silence between them.
unfortunately, it's short lived.
an all too familiar voice echoes through the cave. cass puts a palm to her forehead, because it feels like there's a headache forming already. "oh my god--" she says before she whips around to face leah sererin. a former teammate.
and then another person comes, in. thankfully she's the more bearable of the two. nat. she recognizes her from magma; cass is thankful of the secret kept between them. she quirks and eyebrow at liam, of all the names he could've chosen. he hadn't corrupted poor natalie, had he? she's about to ask about it again when leah pops up again with her fucking snotty voice.
"hi leah, always thought you were a prude." she puts a finger to her chin, faking a thoughtful face. "all those dicks and you decided to suck the fun out of everything."
she smirks at her own joke. she points to rory -- leah was obviously eyeing him. "wouldn't want you to ruin the fun out of this one. why don't you suck his instead?"
well, at least she said thanks. it was a start at least. if she wanted silence that was what she was going to get. he didn't mind it. it was nice while it lasted. then the other group member showed up. he turned around to meet her stare. he checked her out too. not bad. stylish clothes. red hair. he'd try to take her home if he saw her at a bar. but this was different.
and then another person showed up. this one he recognized. he was in a bit of a pickle here. it took him a few moments to respond to the name. "h-hi nat," he responded. he looked at the group. all females except for him. this was like something out of a dream. it just didn't happen in real life.
"this is cass," he introduced, gesturing over to cass who stood beside him. he decided against going with the name auri when he heard that she was acquainted with leah.
he just sort of stood there uncomfortably with his hands in his pockets as the two fired insults at each other. the last one even included him. he could only shrug his shoulders in response. it was apparent that cass wasn't going to apologize to him. so he decided he wasn't going to either. so he took that bait dangling in front of him.
"i wouldn't mind," he chimed in. he gave leah a charming smirk. he switched his attention back to cass. "would you mind?" he asked.
enough with the banter. poor nat was standing there on her own, probably feeling awkward as hell. hopefully she wouldn't make the connection between cass and auri. he smiled at nat.
Cassandra had the perfect horrified expression when she saw Leah again. It was good to know she could so easily rile her up despite it being so long since they had last met. To be truthful, Leah had also not forgotten Cass- despite the fact that they hated each other Cassandra struck her as the type to get somewhere. If not for her cunning than at least out of her own bullheadedness. Idly the redhead wondered if the brunette had already left magma, or if she was still caught up in their ridiculous ideals. When Cass spoke, all at once Leah knew something was different. Cassandra seemed less fiery, less temperamental and less impulsive. Well Leah could not deny that she was obviously all of those things, but something about her previous blood thirst and ambition that you could so easily see in her eyes was gone. Satiated, like she had the power he previously felt she deserved.
Interesting. Leah quirked an eyebrow at the would be insult, before quickly remembering Cassandra didn't know she was into women. She wanted to laugh when Liam asked her if she was alright with it, and easily came to the conclusion that they werent just acquaintances. "Well better that than being a slut- so much fun to be ha and you're too busy on your knees half the time."
Liam smirked at her, to which Leah gave hardly much of a thought. Men were too simple to be liked, they were all just toys in the end. The girl which appeared, however, seemed a lot more up Leah’s alley. So instead of going her usual route of ignoring Cass an eyeing the more finer things, she said, "Aww, but Cass, dont you think it would be a little unfair if I took everything you have?"
Leah then turned to the guide who she assumed would be appalled at the lack of any verbal restriction Cass was showing. Leah felt like shuddering at the disgusting righteousness rangers displayed.
"You can go ahead, hon, don't mind Cass-chan’s little temper tantrums." She waved a hand dismissively and knew that the faster this started, the faster this would end.
The first thing she noticed was how... out of place she was. Sure, she knew her boss, she knew Liam, but by the looks of it, they were all very much acquainted with one another. Well, well enough to be throwing jokes at one another and trying to claw each others' faces off with snarky comments filled with spiteful hatred. Natalie wondered what she had gotten herself into.
She stuck closest to Liam, seeing as she was (technically) the most familiar with him, but listening to them banter back and forth was kind of grating. And liam was being an absolute twat about it as well. She wasn't sure she liked this side better. Liam beating himself up over Auri had somehow been nicer.
Some attempt to fit her in the conversation was appreciated. She grinned at the gang. "Hi there," she chirped, waving a hand. "I'm Nat." To his question, she simply let her gaze wander. "I'm fine. Better when I was playing therapist for things between you and Auri."
deanna smiles awkwardly as the insults are thrown at each other. boy, this is going to be a ride. "well if everyone's here...we can move on." she says, beckoning the group forward.
the cave is cool and dank. they stop at the split path. both look equally daring, dim lights lining the sides of the cave. but the right is labelled 'B' while the left is labelled 'S'. deanna has no idea what that means. she turns towards the people for a group vote.

"no, of course not." cass scoffs. why would he want to ask her for permission? probably to rub it in. but she doesn't care. he can do whatever he wanted as long as she isn't there to watch.
she only snorts at leah's comment. she doesn't want to continue the banner with her. it's obvious that the rest of the group is uncomfortable with it.
"you can take him. he doesn't belong to me." she narrows her eyes. leah was obviously trying to get on her nerves. maybe for the rest of the route she'll just have to resort to ignoring her.
poor nat. cass feels bad for her. all she wants is to go explore, but she got stuck with the train wreck of their group. it'd be interesting once they got to the deeper parts of the cave.
"sorry." she says to the tour guide, smiling apologetically. leah's comment only served to make her angrier. she clenches her fists, but she keeps it to herself. don't ruin the fun out of everybody else's
cass is relieved when the exploration finally starts. she follows the ranger down the cave, stopping at a split roads.
shit leah was stone cold. even he couldn't deny that. his ears perked when he heard what nat had to say. he just chuckled awkwardly. "a-auri's not here," he replied. he was probably digging himself a deeper hole. but luckily for him the tour guide started the expedition. he walked alongside nat for a little bit as they followed the ranger.
he thought about cass's earlier comment about him not belonging to her. that just proved his point. they weren't in a relationship so she shouldn't mind who he slept with. maybe he should just sleep with leah while he's at it. he shook his head at the lovely thought.
the group came to a split road. he couldn't care less which path they went. "right," he replied. he mentally noted how weird it was that these signs would be put up here. he looked over to nat who was beside him and whispered. "sorry about earlier," he whispered. he wasn't, really. but anything to make nat keep a lid on that auri thing. "excuse me," he whispered.
he strolled up and past the others to stand beside cass. he leaned over to the side so he could whisper comfortably. "you okay?" he asked. he kept his hands to himself for now. "that leah girl's a real piece of work," he whispered, letting out a soft chuckle at the end.
Pity wasn't something attributed to Leah, ever. It was one virtue that simply did not sit well with her- in a perfect world the weak had to perish for the strong. But Leah did pride herself in being the center of the universe, and to hold such a high position you did have to put an effort into people. She gave the blonde girl a smirk at her introduction. "Nat," she said, testing the name on her tongue. The girl seemed to dress a little to modestly for her taste, but she couldn't deny how cute she was, even in this lighting. "Pleasure to meet you, I'm Leah." But a larger portion of the smile that formed was darker, as though the gesture in itself was treading on thin ice an Leah was a time bomb waiting to explode.
Cassandra’s snort was met with a triumphant smile. Victory came in different forms, but Leah enjoyed the taste of another’s defeat the most. Cass was nothing to her, despite the subtle way she ha changed. It was nothing after all- Leah supposed that Cass had simply given up on winning their quibble. The smile disappeared as the our guide beckoned them and Leah watched them follow with hawkish, sharp eyes. She walked at the end up of the group, trailing whims them the the fiery tail of a comet.
Or like the burning debris following a trainwreck.
She watched Nat with interest from the back, and if the girl would err catch her gaze and turn around, she wouldn't look away but rather keep her stare and maybe offer a wave coupled with a cocky eyebrow raise.
By they time they stopped at the split path, Leah had daintily removed a notebook and a pen from her satchel. The fact that the group stopped annoyed her, an like all things that annoyed we it needed to be remedied quickly. She rolled her eyes at the guide’a annoying smile and then at Cass for no other reason than that she could.
"Right, obviously," she said, and without really waiting for a response she Egan heading in the direction she stated she wanted to travel in, the pen twirling eagerly in her hands.
They could follow her, or they could bicker about directions for the rest of their lives.
She raised her brow at his need to explain that. Well, yeah. There was Caas and Liam and the redhead, so they were most certainly not here, right? Not quite sure what all the fuss was about, she watched the banter come to an awkward close. Her attention flicked towards Leah, when she realised she was saying her name. "Leah's a wonderful name as well," she complimented, "It's nice to meet you."
"So... how do you know Liam and Cass?" she asked, kind of curious as to how this mish mash of people seemed so well acquainted... to the point of openly insulting one another. She waved off Liam's apology like it didn't matter. She would just have to get used to the... very strange team dynamics they had.
She wanted to side with Cass on left, but with two rights already called out, she gave the Magma leader an apologetic look. "Well, if I vote left we'll be in stalemate. How about we just go right this time?"
"right it is!" deanna chirps, and leads them further down the cave. the rest of the group makes small chatter behind her. it isn't long before she hears flapping noises. she looks back at the group anticipation.
"take out your pokemon." deanna says before flipping out her stylus and pointing at the swarm of zubat gathering around them.
