welcome to calamity! we are an au pokemon site based in hoenn. we do not have canons so you can pick them as your fcs! we have a short one hundred word word count. and you get to also pick your own starter! calamity is going to focus on providing users with a good and stable plot line to follow. this helps each character progress and some might even have a play in affecting the plot! we hope you enjoy your time here and if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask.
hey guys! we've finally hit our three month mark! let's stay strong. the activity check and gala have ended, if your character has been archived and you need them back please pm one of the admins! unfortunately, noods has steped down from his admin position. make sure you say your goodbyes here!

hello calamity! we're nearing the two months mark in a few weeks. how time flies! right now we have two things going on that need your participation. the first is an activity check! it is impotant that you check in so you don't lose your face claim. the second is the otm nomiations! we're doing it a bit different than last time. so please submit your nominations in. a vote thread will be up in the next few days. there will also be a formal event coming very soon, so keep your eye out for that. keep being cool!
we're currently about to host calamity's first contest in slatepor. trainers are flocking to the city to see, the city's been trying to get good pr since the gala, and it seems to be working! they're asking for both coordinators and volunteer judges to sign up.
CALAMITY is a roleplaying forum inspired by the popular franchise POKEMON, which does not belong to us. the skin was crafted by PHARAOH LEAP of GANGNAM STYLE. special thanks to SPIRAL for contributing ideas! all art on the forum does not belong to us unless stated otherwise, while all written works belong to the members who posted them. DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING that is not yours, please. thank you.
as the night lingers on a new event has begun. a slow dance hosted in the ballroom on the top floor. we've rearranged the tables so there is a wide space in the middle while tables and chairs surrounded it. the music's all slow and romantic. the time's currently 11pm, this event will last until midnight. so get dancing!
if you'd like to participate in the slow dance please post in this thread instead!
timeline: • 6:00pm -- the gala starts! guests may start posting their introductions. • 7:00pm -- speed dating starts! • 8:00pm -- dancing starts! • 11:00pm -- slow dance starts!

Like I'd tell you where I caught it, so you could go and find one for yourself. Their sibling rivalry was something he took very seriously. "Well, thing is, I can't train it... I'd have to force feed the thing Rare Candies until it actually became useful, so I'm planning on using it as trade bait." Abra wouldn't take kindly to those words, Al imagined as much, but he wasn't in ear shot to actually say anything about it. Not that he would actually say anything, just enter his mind through telepathy.
'I heard that,' came a shrill, telepathic voice. It sent shivers down his spine to know Abra could hear his thoughts, even from so far away. It was part of the reason he planned on giving him up. Abra knew, after all, and didn't seem too flustered with it.
"You'll have to fight whoever I trade it to, I guess, if you're really set on battling him." Shrugging, Alastor started leading the party towards the dancing. He hoped to make a few impressions, perhaps spook a few guests with his unusual mask. It made his breathing sound heavy, even strained. His voice was almost impossible to discern, it was so muffled.
He got near the dancing hall when a crash of ceramic caught his attention. Turning to the side, he saw a brown-haired man in a blue suit harrassing a redhead courting with two ladies. What's going on here..., he was tempted to intervene. Yet brawling wasn't his niche, and if it came to that, someone was going to get a nasty bite. Maybe even Al, too.
things couldn't get any better for the gal. not only did she have her princess near but the attractive red-head as well. she crooned her words, eyes sparkling with a thinly veiled lust as she managed a polite smile.
"if it ain't my knight in shinin' armor. thought ya dipped fer a second. nice ta know ya came back ta us."
"snivy," the grass snake purred, peering at the dragoness.
"'mmm. sit with us, yeah? bunny, ya don't mind, right? i wouldn't mind both his company and yers."
two was better than one, after all.
and andrea was almost tempted to simply scoop up the pair and disappear into the night. but she would stay for now, lingering in order to accomplish what needed to be done.
"..."
shaking her head free from such thoughts, she gestured toward the third seat, inviting darius to take a seat. when dmitri approached and spoke his mind, andrea snorted. she adjusted her zoroark and decided to speak up in response.

THESE ARE THE DAYS
WHEN I HATE THE WORLD
HATE THE RICH, HATE THE HAPPY, HATE THE COMPLACENT. TV WATCHERS, BEER DRINKERS, THE SATISFIED ONES. BECAUSE I KNOW I CAN BE ALL THOSE LITTLE HATEFUL THINGS AND THEN I HATE MYSELF FOR REALIZING THAT. BE SAFE, BE SAFE.
While Darius was getting his fill of Ladies for the night he was completely oblivious of the vase coming his way, his Gabite was not though, she roared leaping high up towards the Vase. Her arms began to glow a dark purple and she chopped the Vase in half and then into fourths sending them away from the two coordinators and trainer. "Gabite!!" She then landed down and shot a Dragon Rage towards the area in front of Dmitri threatening him to stay away from Darius. "Bite. . ."
Darius gladly took Andrea's offer. "Of course I will babe." He replied taking the seat with a wink. The first idea that popped into his mind was getting laid tonight, though he restrained from asking both women right there, even if they would say yes, he'd rather smooth talk them into it, if he could in his shitfaced state. He turned to see his Gabite shooting a Dragon Rage toward some brunette, he didn't care she could probably take care of this guy. "Good girl." He commented and turned back to Andrea and Bunny, specifically winking at Bunny hoping she wouldn't mind his presence.
Reach out your hands Don't turn your back Don't walk away How in the world Can I wish for this? Never to be torn apart Close to you 'Til the last beat Of my heart
Bunny gasped as the second vase of the night sailed through the air and towards both Darius and Andrea. But luckily, this time everyone was more prepared. Darius' Gabite had attacked the vase, swatting it away. Covering her face, Bunny shook her head and whined words to herself about how much of a disaster tonight was and how much she wished this was like the parties in Kalos, where everyone was nice and sophisticated and nobody was so rude. Or violent.
But once she got ahole of herself, Bunny nodded, mumbling out an "Of course," as Andrea asked if Darius could sit with them. She had seemed pretty interested in him, so he should help her feel better, right?
She shook her head quietly to herself, indulging herself in her wine until it was all gone. She needed to forget this dance by tomorrow morning, no matter the cost.
Bunny looked to Darius as he sat down, a bright red blush encapsulating her entire face as he shot her a wink. Luckily most of it was hidden by her Buneary mask, but Bunny still turned away and covered her face a little as she waved another waiter with wine over. Yes please, more alcohol. More alcohol, more alcohol, more alcohol.
Though, she had to say....
As Bunny glanced back to Darius and Andrea after getting her next glass of wine, hoping they had forgotten about her shyness, she thought how she wouldn't mind maybe... spending the rest of the night with them. If they wanted. You know, just to make sure Andrea was okay....

"Eh, no big deal cousin." Of course, it was somewhat upsetting to learn that he may not get the chance to ever battle with the Abra. At least it wasn't the only psychic type from Kanto, or any region for that matter. "I'll just have to fight something else that's interesting along my travels." Pretty optimistic for him, though only for the moment...
*Crash!*"What the...?" Turning over to where Alastor had been walking towards, he noticed a vase breaking. '...Why am I not surprised.' The person behind it seemed to be Dmitri from within a crowd of familair faces. He was quite the wild character, though he seemed fine when he wasn't exposed to something he had a keen distaste towards. 'Oh great...slow dancing. Could this possibly get any worse?'"People these days..."

"A-Andrea? I didn't recognize you." She looks more girly than usual. I would've sooner expected her to come in a tux. He would stick around and chat, but with so much happening Dmitri really only had time to gesture a direction with a bob of his head. Somewhere in the distance, Broski came scampering over in a flurry.
"Sicking your pokemon on a trainer, eh? Well ain't that swell." He backed off for the moment, Dragon Rage nearly seared his clothes. When he noticed a scorched mark; that set him off. And then you tell it to bite me? Dmitri knew Broski was on his way, but Gabite and its trainer deserved a lesson in reality. You don't send pokemon after people.
Dmitri took a small, running start as Gabite seemed to bustle towards him on Darius' orders. "You think I've never fought a pokemon before?"
"Eat this!" Dmitri was within approximately a yard when he kicked up, the lower portion of his body brought upwards in a drop kick. He was striking for dead center on the Gabite, the big girl had an oversized gut he intended to knock the wind out of. Objectively, it was meant to send the pokemon flying back into its trainer's arms.
"That's what you get for ruining my suit, AND hogging all the girls." He gave a look of disbelief; these girls were swooning all over him. This country is so bizarre... Broski took up his place just in front of Dmitri, snorting angrily. He seemed to wriggle with an unmatched fervor, perhaps swinub was appalled by the fact a trainer would threaten or even follow through with attacking an unarmed trainer with their pokemon.
"You're seriously falling for him?! He just attacked me with his pokemon!" Throwing a vase was a violation of conduct as well; but sending a monster after someone? That screamed beyond passing the line of acceptable behavior. Somehow, though, these girls seemed content to swoon over him. Maybe it was the hair, Dmitri couldn't be sure.
Picking up Broski, he sucked at his teeth and left. If those girls want to be treated like pins for him to collect, I can't make them change. Sighing, he turned and walked away. Perhaps he was better off asking Usa to dance after all. What a night this was turning out to be. What a failure on his part.

we are quirky, totally crazy, fairly broken but nicely decorated
"The TM business is going pretty well, actually," the blonde told the other male with honesty. "If you've got some decent moves it's an easy way to earn some extra pocket money on the side." And that wasn't the only attractive incentive to it, although it was the most useful. Meeting other pokémon - ranging from uncommon to elusive and rare - and their trainers was always a nice bonus as well. Kristmar's curiosity wandered to what TMs Kurayami could possibly have under his belt but he filed that question away for later, when they had more time and it were easier to hear one another. "And it won't cut into too much of the time you're apparently spending slacking off at the beach."
Kris watched as the younger coordinator input his username into his pokénav for later but his attention was momentarily averted to a small scene transpiring out of the corner of his eye. Bunny, in her billowing chiffon dress, was easily discerned from the crowd and Kris noticed, with a mild sinking feeling, that she was still with her very affectionate company. He couldn't allow himself to be too crestfallen though... it was likely his own fault for not considering the possibility that Bunny had eyes for someone else already.
Woken from his disillusioned reverie by Kurayami's pokénav, the long-haired male blinked a few times in rapid succession before plucking it from his hands to enter his IM username as well.
"Yeah..." he murmured with a little less wind in his sails, saving himself as a contact and bringing his glass to his lips with his free hand. "I'm usually logged on as well so it's not too hard to reach me."
Returning the teen his device, his attention couldn't help but drift back to the two women... who were now joined by a third male. His intentions, even from this far, were blatantly obvious. It took Kristmar a second to realize he recognized the male as the crass individual with, yes, that gabite. Why was... he even being humoured? Kris squinted over the brim of his champagne flute at the inebriated trio which, to his disappointment, included Bunny. He was about to tear his eyes away when the scene just... got even more dramatic.
Vases, shouting, pokémon attacking, more shouting. Not exactly a scenario that fitted in nicely with this formal and classy setting.
Kristmar tutted loudly, unable to watch more, and turned around to set his empty glass on the windowsill with a strained chuckle.
"Clothes don't make the person with this lot," he hummed, folding his arms and leaning on them slightly through the open window. "Seems like you can dress them up in expensive rags but they'll still behave like animals." His nose wrinkled slightly and his lips primmed into a taut pensive line. Bunny was with this lot. He could care less for the others but what disappointing image was this for her? Drinking herself into a state and accompanied by less than pleasant yet chosen company. But - then again - Kristmar reminded himself that it wasn't like he knew her well in the first place to make any sort of judgement. Perhaps her sweeter side was the only side Kris honestly knew of her.
"Hmmm..." Kris closed his eyes for a moment, humming lightly to himself, the cooler night air tickling the thick sandy bangs that framed his face but it still didn't feel enough. Kris glanced at his empty glass and back to Kurayami, schooling his mouth into a small smile. He wouldn't let this slight disappointment put a damper on his night. "I think I might step out for some air and another drink... wanna join me?"

I AM NOT A BAD MAN
even though i do bad things
VERY BAD THINGS
such horrible things
"Foolish Human, does he honestly think he can try his petty fighting moves on me?" Gabite thought to herself, the buffoon was actually trying to kick her, such an idiotic move. She's taken worse from the puffball Sylvester calls a "Marley" and actual fighting type Pokemon, this was an idiot pretending to be strong in her eyes. She quickly charged up a Dragon Rage blasting it straight towards the man as he attempted a kick at her, that should of stopped the silly foreigner. Though if the flames were not enough to stop the man, she already had a back up plan, the blades on her arms were glowing a dark purple, she prepared her second attack, Dual Chop, with one arm she would guard, with the other she would slam the man onto the ground as painfully as possible. "Gaabite!!!"
Darius trusted his Gabite completely, she was better than most humans at this Gala, she was loyal, trustworthy, and strong. She could handle herself just fine, and so he ignored the fight it wasn't worth his time, not one damn bit. Though if any other idiots were to try to attack her Darius would have to get up, he may look like he was a muscle headed idiot, but he definitely was not. For now Darius kept his eyes on both Andrea and Bunny, winking at Andrea this time. "Don't worry about him, he's pretty stupid if he thinks he can mess with my Gabite, she's a fucking monster when it comes to battling with Pokemon or Humans."
Sand Veil - Lv.24 - Healthy Gabite used Dragon Rage on Dmitri! Gabite countered using Dual Chop on Dmitri!

"yo!"
andrea stood, a look of discontent causing her features to twist and her frown to become much more prominent.
"imma need ya'll ta chill the fuck out."
she had no intention of seeing any of her companions being booted out of here over something entirely too petty. it was as though the males were attempting to establish their dominance. and gabite's and dmitri's conflict, while interesting to watch, needed to be dealt with.
"imma also need ya ta not fuck up dmitri's face, darius. ya got me?" protective of all whom she had deemed a good friend, she didn't desire dmitri to be harmed. no matter his behavior - which had been, admittedly, ridiculous.
she kinda thought he was gay, too - but had never really bothered to ask.
so she was somewhat surprised by his choice of words.
"ya got five seconds or i'll fuck ya'll up instead. don't do this kinda shit around us. understand? now sit yer asses down."
andrea glanced at bunny before focusing on the two men present.
"and don't think i'm bullshittin'."
"snivy! sniv!"
the grass-type attempted to reason with the powerful dragoness, boldly dissuading her from following through with another strike.

"Tch." It was inevitable that Dmitri would storm off; this evidently wasn't going as planned. He bee-lined straight to the great entrance hall, leaving the facility for a moment to come back to his senses. What happened back there?
Broski tugged at his pants, fumbling over his dress shoes when he abruptly stopped. He seemed concerned for Dmitri, but confused as to what was wrong. Isn't this supposed to be fun? Swinub wasn't entirely wrong; but something was getting in the way.
Yikes. Cool night air washed over him, a stark relief against the contrasting disappointments the night had brought. I just wanted a dance. Usa had avoided his question, Andrea was too busy with someone else. He didn't know anybody else here...
Sighing, he reached into his pocket for a cell phone. It's almost time. By now they would be making preparations for the final dance ceremony. He wondered how it would go, and if he should even bother staying for the remainder of the night.
I bothered showing up, might as well stick it out. Who knows... Sometimes, life had that funny way of panning out, just before you lost all faith in hope.

the business deal is utterly, completely ruined. when cass came upon the room, empty a vandalized with rayquaza graffitied upon it's walls, she felt something she'd not felt for a long time. hot, searing rage fills her. not only rage, but betrayal. sorrow. there's no words to accurately describe what she's feeling right now, but all she knows is that she needs to find the culprit right now. she wrenches open the door and exits promptly.
"shut down the building." she snaps. it's a flurry of action, and when she finally enters the elevator alone it's strangely quiet. like the calm before storm. when she exits she finds that there's already grunts with their pokemon lining the hall.
on her command the door's shoved open. barks and snarls of houndoom and mightyena spill into the room. she followsshortly, at the end, commanding each and every unit to attack anybody that rebels. this night would not end without a suspect, and when her eyes alight on the blond hair across the room she knows exactly who she wants.
tonight has all been cover up scheme in an attempt to hide a business deal between magma and an illegal research facility. the deal was the research facility would share some valuable information about a certain legendary pokemon in exchange for money. that deal however, went south when magma officials head down to the basement to finish off the transaction, only to discover the guards knocked out and an empty room.
the briefcase was gone. what's left is a green spray painting on the wall. the art was sloppily done - drips of paint broke from their lines, but it was obvious as to what it depicted.
rayquaza.
now magma has returned to the event with one purpose: to find the culprits. aqua, of course, came to mind. and with their targets they headed upstairs. grunts spilled into the room to try and contain the guests. an aggron stomped on the floor, rattling the room as team magma made their appearance. mightyenas and houndoom patrol the room, and they snap at anyone who gets too close. all exits are guarded. cassandra cain's voice comes on over the system.
"this building is on lockdown. only people with their identification can leave. everybody is to follow orders or risk getting hurt."
there's little resistance at first, but soon it's evident that people will not stand for this injustice...
objectives: • defeat magma and get out of the building.
directions: • there is no posting order. • you are encouraged to work in groups and defeat each pokemon. • no pokemon or characters will be killed unless you consent to it. • a new posting event will be up every 24 hours. • magma members may work with or against other people. • each pokemon gets 3 levels for participating • at the bottom of your post note your pokemon's levels, attack, and what pokemon they are targeting.
[attr="class","ipoodle"]the night's run dry as the slow dance was coming to a close. the clock's past midnight as he stared at the couples dancing. the couples were enjoying the slow dance event so much that they decided to extend it out for a while. play a couple more songs, let the couples enjoy the moment. he was enjoying the event for the most part. he had just finished his fourth drink. was it the fourth? he couldn't remember. but he wasn't intoxicated just yet, no. he needed way more drinks for that to happen.
he glanced up at the clock once more. it was late. he stood up and placed the empty glass on the table. he put on his coat and sighed. time to head home, he guessed.
his eyes quickly turned to the entrance of the ballroom. magma stormed the room and were trying to control the guests. they had their pokemon out and about patrolling as well. fuck this, he wasn't going to stand idly by and let this happen. his eyes glanced around the room trying to find the other aqua members. but before he could find any his eyes met with the cause of this shitstorm. and he felt angry.
a familiar voice echoed through the room. "fuck magma!" he yelled out. but he had his eyes set on only one target. and it hurt him, really, that he had to do this. he took out one single pokeball and tossed it into the air. out came his arcanine, who was happy to be finally be reunited with rory. but he quickly understood the situation and turned to the enemy instead.
Reach out your hands Don't turn your back Don't walk away How in the world Can I wish for this? Never to be torn apart Close to you 'Til the last beat Of my heart
Bunny found herself confused and frustrated at the table she sat with Andrea and Darius. This random guy was looking at her as some sort of object, a toy for boys to play with, and she was just about to speak her mind about it when the doors slammed open and at least a hundred uniformed people marched out, fierce-looking pokemon at their sides.
People were shouting, instructions were being passed on, and everyone was angry. She didn't understand any of the hubbub, she just knew it was suddenly crazy and this was the worst party ever. Seriously. Kalos was so much classier than this.
People were starting to fight. Pokemon were screeching in pain, trainers were shouting orders. Whoever these guys were in their red outfits, they were acting as if they were well-trained soldiers. What could she do?
Diana was at her side, determination plastered on the tiny dragon's face. Nobody was going to hurt her or her trainer, not if she could help it! Not to mention Bunny had brought the rest of her team, too. You know, just in case.
